In this day in age, people are tethered to their mobile devices. There seems to be an umbilical cord, or lifeline if you will, that people have between their cell phones and themselves. They are no longer just a means of catching up on a conversation, rather they have begun to sneak into every facet of our lives. Cell phones are now a calendar, a mobile secretary, a computer, and a tool for social networking, texting, searching the web, and even the occasional phone call.
If you are in the market for an upgrade to your cell phone, or even purchasing your first cell phone, the variety of different options on the market can be outright dizzying. Because a phone is no longer just for talking, the different uses, options, and networks can be overwhelming to decipher. However, once you decide which carrier is going to be best for you, you can then begin narrowing down your choices for choosing the best smartphone to suit your needs.
When searching for the right smartphone, you may be overwhelmed by the different options: iPhone, android, Verizon, AT&T all seem to be foreign words. Choosing your carrier will be one of the first things you should do when deciding on your smartphone. There are a lot of different options for your mobile carrier, so there are some things to first consider: how much you want to spend, what kind of coverage you need, what kind of plan you need, and if you need to purchase multiple lines.
Verizon has recently been ranked as the best service provider in the United States based on customer’s input. They offer the fewest dropped calls, best internet service connection, and the best customer service. Of course, the great coverage and service does come at a price on your wallet. Verizon’s monthly service plans are also some of the most expensive. However, if a lot of your friends and family have Verizon as well, minute usage won’t matter as much, as all in-network calls don’t use your monthly minute usage allowance. AT&T, on the other hand, was rated the worst by customers for their monthly service.
While the plans are somewhat cheaper than Verizon, customer service was poor, calls were frequently dropped, lost, or missed, and data coverage has been relatively spotty. This often means that while you are paying less, you aren’t getting as good of service all around. Of course there are some in-between carriers such as Sprint and T-Mobile which also offer pros and cons to customers. It is best to research each carrier’s service plans before deciding which one you will suit your needs most, as you will most likely be locked into a contract with that provider for at least a year.
Now it is Time To Choose Your Cell Phone Provider
Once you have decided upon a cell phone carrier, you can get down to more important business–choosing the right smartphone. Each carrier has different smartphones which work with their networks. In just about every network, iPhones are some of the most popular smartphones on the market. They are an Apple product, which for many means high quality, and ease of use. Ever since iPhone debuted their smartphone on the market several years ago, they have set the bar for all other smartphone operating systems, and continue to set precedent for smartphone developers. The iPhone, too, comes at a fairly high price. They are some of the most expensive smartphones on the market, and for many consumers are not worth their hefty price tags.
If you like the idea of a smartphone but not the huge cost associated with iPhones, consider an android phone. Android phones are another operating system which will give a lot of the same benefits an iPhone does, but without having to pay nearly as much for apps or the actual handset. Android based smartphones are wildly popular with consumers because users can still access the internet, download music, share photos, text, talk, and social network from their handset.
The benefits of a lot of the android operating systems is the variety of different types of handsets customers have to choose from to purchase, and the huge android market for apps. In the android market for smartphones, users have a huge selection of apps to choose from, thousands of which are cheap or even free to use. Android based operating systems are available from almost every cell phone carrier, so the variety of devices to choose from are extremely wide.
Choosing your actual smartphone will depend on a few key things each consumer should consider. The size of smartphones varies greatly from one model to the next, so deciding how big of a phone you want to carry is something to think about. The next thing to consider is what type of data coverage you are going to want. Finally, price again figures into the equation when choosing your actual smartphone handset. For a woman who wants a more compact phone which can slip easily into a bag or purse, there are a number of smaller phones on the market. The displays on these phones will usually be smaller, and texting may be more difficult.
If you are somebody who texts a great deal, then getting used to smaller keys on the display or keyboard can be something of a challenge. If you are somebody who has issues with dexterity in your fingers due to arthritis or a medical condition, or if you have large fingertips, you are most likely going to need to opt for a larger display and keyboard. Most smartphones right now on the market are in the 3G network. This is the speed of retrieving data on your phone, and mostly applies to internet applications.
There are a variety of phones now which offer 4G coverage, which means faster access to internet, but not all areas are able to get 4G coverage just yet, which means you may be paying for a service you won’t get. Finally, when deciding which smartphone to purchase, you should definitely consider your budget. Some excellent smartphones are available for very low cost via your cell phone provider, and others may be extremely expensive. Your budget may ultimately determine which phone you will be able to purchase.
A smartphone is more than just a communication device to people nowadays. It is a reflection of a person’s personality in many regards. It is a means of not only talking, but communicating with the world via text, talk, internet, email, and social networking. Choosing the right smartphone for you can make your life a whole lot easier!

Thanks this will save me money. I was just about to buy an iphone and was looking into what provider I should choose among. Verizon is better than AT & T and plan to go to a store tomorrow. – John
